Honda MotoGP boss Alberto Puig confirmed the team’s interest in signing Jorge Martin if he becomes available at the end of the year. Martin is seeking to leave Aprilia at the conclusion of the 2025 season, citing dissatisfaction with the RS-GP’s performance. Honda, with Luca Marini’s contract expiring, is a likely destination for Martin. Puig expressed interest in Martin, noting that every team in the paddock would be keen on a rider of his caliber. However, Puig emphasized that Honda does not engage in signing riders with existing contracts. The competition for the seat includes Johann Zarco, who is eyeing a factory move after a strong 2025 season with LCR Honda. Despite the positive developments for Honda in 2025, the decision to expand the team to six bikes ultimately rests with Japan, as Puig stated that it would entail more work and is not currently under consideration.
